Update: First Holy Communion 2020

This year's First Communion Programme got off to a great start back in October 2019.  48 children joined the programme and it was clear immediately that this was a great group who were really engaged, joined together happily and began to make new friendships.

Each child officially 'enrolled' onto the programme in the presence of family, friends and the wider parish in their own church on the 3rd Sunday of Advent to the delight of everyone present.  As a parish we have been praying for these children ever since as they journey towards meeting Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time.

Christmas and then Lent quickly came around and we turned our focus towards preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation where each child would make their individual Confession in preparation to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.  This took place on 7th March in St Gregory's Church.  Little did we know that we very soon a lockdown would be imposed and we would stop meeting for a while.

Feast of Corpus Christi 2020 - First Communion Day

The feast of Corpus Christi was planned as the day on which the children would make their First Communion but this has, sadly, been postponed. However, we are still holding the children very much in the prayers of our parish and hope to see them very soon.  As soon as we are out of lockdown, we will contact parents to plan a way forward.   We hope the children enjoy the following short video prepared for them for this weekend.
