OPENING FOR MASS
We have a letter from the Archbishops please click on the link below:
It is very welcome news that we may be able to join together - albeit in a limited manner - for Mass from 4 July. However, our opening for Mass is dependant upon our ability to conform to the guidance and conditions set by the Government on appropriate social distancing, stewarding, cleaning and hygiene protocols. As we go to print, we are still awaiting detailed guidance from our Bishop as to exactly what the requirements are and how we are to implement them but we have begun our preparations in earnest and wish to share our plans with you in order that we have sufficient volunteers to allow us to open.
The provisional Mass schedule from Saturday 4 July:
|Sat 4 July||Sun 5 July||Mon 6 July||Tues 7 July||Wed 8 July||Thurs 9 July||Frid 10 July|
|10:00, 19:00||10:00, 19:00||10:00, 19:00||10:00, 19:00||10:00, 19:00|
Please note that the 10:00 and 19:00 Mass at St Osmund’s are continuing as they have been throughout lockdown. We are very aware that whilst some may be able to attend the church building there are still many, many of our parishioners who are shielding or remain vulnerable or housebound. It is important to reaffirm that, at present, the obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains suspended Please rest assured that the livestream schedule is being maintained.
Please be aware that there will be a limit on the number of people who can attend Mass in our churches. This will be determined by the size of each building and the social distancing requirements. We therefore need to reflect carefully on how and when we might be able to attend Mass. We cannot return immediately to our customary practices. This next step is not, in any sense, a moment when we are going ‘back to normal.’ We ask every parishioner to think carefully about how and when they will return to Mass. Given there is no Sunday obligation, we ask you to consider the possibility of attending Mass on a weekday. This will ease the pressure of numbers for Sunday celebrations and allow a gradual return to the Eucharist for more people.
When we return to Mass there will some differences in how the celebration takes place. For the time being, there will be no congregational singing and Mass will be shorter than usual. None of this detracts from the centrality of our encounter with the Risen Christ in the Eucharist. We ask everyone to respect and follow the guidance that will be issued and the instructions in each church.
Volunteer Stewards Required
Please note that if at any time we do not have volunteer stewards to assist at a Mass, that Mass cannot be opened to a congregation. If you are willing to assist and are ‘non-vulnerable’, please do volunteer the appropriate church Co-ordinator: for St Gregory’s, contact Sam on 07973 678115; for St Osmund contact Tony on 01722 562703 and for Holy Redeemer please contact Warwick on 01722 327507.
‘Booking’ to attend Mass
The mandatory social-distancing requirements mean that there will be a limited number of spaces permissible for each Mass and so there will be a need to ‘book’ a place so that we can control numbers and thereby adhere to regulations. Please do not arrive at a church hoping to attend Mass if you have not booked in advance.
There will be centralised booking system for all three of our churches: to book please call 01722 562703 or email email@example.com Bookings will only be taken on this number and email address.
Booking will be on a first come/first served basis. When you book, we will ask your name and how many members of your family will be attending. Each household will have to book separately. Booking for Masses that will take place during w/c Sat 4 July and Sun 12/7 will open at 9am on Monday morning (29 June).
