Monthly Prayer Intentions

As part of our Diocesan Year of Prayer we are offering a different focus for parish prayer for each month.  The focus chosen for each month may be particularly relevant to that month of the year or may be chosen because of particularly suitability to that moment in our liturgical year.  To date, we have only chosen the prayer topics for January and February.

In February we are focussing, at the suggestion of parishioner Annette Wells, on the appalling and shameful trafficking of human beings as migrants, refugees, slaves and sex workers in our world today.  The feast day of St Josephine Bakhita, canonised in 2000, fell on 8 February.

Praying together for this intention - there will be Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament in St Osmund’s from 6.30pm every Friday prior to Mass to pray together for the victims of human trafficking and slavery.  Do join us if you can in the church or online via our Church TV.

March Prayer Intention - our focus for March will be ‘Forgiveness and Reconciliation’.  As we go to print, the March Prayer page (see below or click here) is under construction but it will be ready by 1 March!

This theme has been chosen for March as we will move into Lent on 6 March and hope to have a renewed focus on the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  As part of our Year of Prayer, Bishop Declan will be coming to St Osmund’s to lead a Lenten Reconciliation Service on 21 March at 7pm.  Please put the date in your diary.

Do you have a particular prayer focus that you would like to suggest?  We are inviting parishioners to suggest topics for each month.  Please contact Caroline on if you would like to suggest a prayer focus for a forthcoming month.
