Ascension Day St Joseph's School

A truly heartwarming moment took place on Ascension Day at St Joseph’s Catholic School as two Head Girls — separated by 62 years — came together during the school’s celebration of the Ascension Day Mass.

Joan, who served as Head Girl in 1964, returned to the school and met Kyla, the newly elected Head Girl for the coming academic year. Standing together beneath the school’s mission statement, the pair represented more than six decades of faith, leadership and community spirit at St Joseph’s.

The special occasion took place as students, staff, governors and parishioners gathered for a joyful Ascension Day Mass. The school was delighted to welcome so many members of the Salisbury Catholic community, whose support and presence helped make the celebration such a memorable and uplifting event.

Throughout the liturgy, students played a leading role with reverence, confidence and joy, reflecting the strong Catholic ethos and shared values that continue to shape life at St Joseph’s.

For many attending, the meeting between Joan and Kyla was one of the highlights of the day — a beautiful reminder of the school’s proud history and the enduring importance of service, faith and leadership across generations.

From 1964 to 2026, the spirit of St Joseph’s continues to flourish.
