Carlo Acutis (1991–2006)
Carlo Acutis was a young Italian Catholic known for his deep devotion to the Eucharist and his passion for technology. Born in London and raised in Milan, he attended daily Mass, prayed the Rosary, and showed a strong concern for others from an early age. He used his computer skills to create a website documenting Eucharistic miracles, aiming to share the beauty of the Catholic faith online.
Carlo died of leukemia at just 15 years old, offering his suffering for the Church and the Pope. His life inspired many, especially young people, and he was beatified in 2020. On 7 September 2025, he was canonised, becoming the first millennial saint and a symbol of holiness in the digital age.
Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901–1925)
Pier Giorgio Frassati was an Italian layman known for his vibrant faith, love of the outdoors, and dedication to serving the poor. Born into a wealthy family in Turin, he chose a life of humility and charity, joining Catholic groups like the St Vincent de Paul Society and actively helping those in need. He was also a passionate mountaineer, often combining his love for nature with spiritual reflection.
Despite his short life—he died at 24 from polio—Pier Giorgio left a lasting legacy of joyful service and Gospel living. His funeral was attended by many of the poor he had quietly helped. Beatified in 1990, he was canonized on 7 September 2025 and is remembered as the “Man of the Beatitudes.”
