‘The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few’

Can You Help Our Parish Thrive?

Following Fr Joseph’s homily last Sunday click here to listen again, we are reaching out to ask for your support in helping our parish continue to flourish, even while we adjust to having fewer priests. There are so many ways you can help, if you would be willing to offer the time and talents you have. For example…

FAMILY OF FAITH: It makes all the difference to have a few adults who are willing simply to sit with the children, do some colouring in, and chat to them about Jesus—even if you can’t commit to every session. And if working with children isn’t your calling, we would really welcome help with the admin behind the scenes, hospitality, and setting up the room in advance.

HOLY COMMUNION: There is always a need for ‘extraordinary ministers‘ willing to distribute the Precious Blood during Mass, and / or to take the Blessed Sacrament to parishioners in care homes, or who are housebound.

ALTAR SERVERS: It is such a privilege to serve Mass, and a wonderful way to engage more deeply with Christ in the liturgy, both for adult servers, and children (Year 4+) who are eager to learn.

TABLES AND CHAIRS: There is always the physical work of setting up and packing down the tables and chairs at the weekend, especially whilst we will need overflow in the hall at our Sunday Masses.

ADORATION: As Fr Joseph reminded us, prayer is the vital fuel that powers every other ministry. We are blessed to have Adoration on Tuesdays & Thursdays at St Osmund’s, but we really need to ensure that at least one person is there with the Lord, throughout the day—so please add your name to the rota in the porch if you can commit to an hour’s slot.

GROUNDS MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING: Our church buildings and the areas of garden around them are kept beautiful by the hard work and generosity of a small number of faithful volunteers. Any assistance you can offer would be so much appreciated.

These are just a few of the ways you can make a difference. If you feel called to help in any capacity, please contact the Parish Office. Your time and talents are deeply appreciated.
