International Mass

Celebrating Our Parish’s Diversity: A Joyous International Mass

Last weekend, St. Gregory’s Church hosted a truly uplifting International Mass and celebration, bringing together parishioners from a wide range of nationalities to honour the diversity within our Catholic community. It was a powerful reminder of how our different cultures and backgrounds come together and are united as one family in Christ.

The Mass itself was a rich tapestry of languages and traditions. The readings were spoken in several native languages (Eswatini, Slovakian, Malayalam, Italian…), and projected on the church walls for all to follow. Fr. Joseph even sung some of the prayers of the Mass in French, and some in Latin—that wonderful, universal language of our Catholic worship. Another highlight of the liturgy was the fabulous African singing, beautifully provided at Entrance & Offertory by the Nigerian choir, filling the church with joy and energy.

After Mass, the celebrations continued with a vibrant cultural showcase. The rosary was prayed in multiple languages, reflecting the global nature of our shared faith. Members of the Slovakian, Indian, and African communities gave fascinating talks about their unique traditions and experiences. The event concluded with a feast of delicious foods from around the world, generously prepared and shared by parishioners.

This special occasion highlighted the beauty of our parish’s diversity and strengthened the bonds of our community. We are truly blessed to be part of such a vibrant and inclusive parish family.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this day so memorable. Let us continue to celebrate and grow together as one Catholic community!
