Rite of Election 2026
On Saturday 21 February 2026, parishioners from St Gregory’s and St Osmund’s Churches, Salisbury, Christ the King Church, Amesbury, Sacred Heart Church, Tisbury, and St George’s Church, Warminster, joined others from across the diocese at Clifton Cathedral for this year’s joyful Rite of Election.
More than 190 catechumens and candidates were warmly welcomed by the Bishop as they prepare for Baptism or reception into full communion with the Church at Easter. In his address, the Bishop reminded them that this moment marks a real step of faith — recognising what God has already begun in their lives — and assured them that their “yes” to God is never lived alone, but is supported by the prayers and love of their parish communities. This message was made especially meaningful in this Jubilee Year of St Francis of Assisi, whose simple courage in following Christ continues to inspire us all.
