Dedication of St Osmund’s Church 6 September

178 years ago today (Wednesday 6 Sep 1848), St Osmund’s Church was consecrated by Bishop Ullathorne. The following day, at 10:30am, he presided in a solemn Mass of Dedication when the church was dedicated to St Osmund. It was sung ‘antiphonically by a choir of priests in the Plain Chant of St Gregory’. In the evening there was Vespers and Benediction. There were 268 people in the congregation excluding the priests.
