YOUTH SYNOD IN ROME - 3 - 28 October 2018:

This week the Synod of Bishops in which young people are the subject began in Rome.   Synod Fathers from all over the world, and other invited participants, will explore the theme  “Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment”.

SYNOD PROCESS

The Synod process began in October 2016 when Pope Francis announced the Synod’s theme. In January 2017, the initial phase of the Synod began with a letter of the Holy Father to young people, and the publication of the Preparatory Document (available on our website).  In it, Pope Francis writes: “Taking care of young people is not an optional task for the Church, but an integral part of her vocation and mission in history. In just a few words, this is the specific scope of the upcoming Synod: just as our Lord Jesus Christ walked alongside the disciples of Emmaus, the Church is also urged to accompany all young people, without exception, towards the joy of love.  What is a Synod?  What’s happening there?  How can I get involved?  How can I follow it? There is a wealth of resources on our parish website at: https://salisburycatholics.org/youth-synod   These include explanations, videos, prayers and much more.  I encourage all young people of our parish to read the letter from the Holy Father specifically addressed to you: https://salisburycatholics.org/letter-young-people and urge all parishioner to join in with our Diocese in praying for the success of this Synod - Fr Michael
