The Chrism Mass was celebrated on Wednesday 5th April at Clifton Cathedral. As always, the choir were in good voice the orchestra sounded great throughout the Mass. Bishop Declan blessed the three oils — the oil of catechumens, the oil of the sick and holy chrism.

In his Homily, which you can see and hear below, Bishop Declan talked about changes happening within the Clifton diocese and stated that the parishes and schools are important in the life of the Church. That they form communities in which Christian values are real.

He also said that our parishes must be a place of welcome and be a place where people find Hope.  Parishes cannot work in isolation to one another.

Bishop Declan then laid out plans which will see the current 13 Deaneries become 9 going forward. The Deans of these Deaneries will be asked to gather people together to determine what the Pastoral needs are of that particular area.

You can see & hear Bishop Declan’s Homily below. There are also a selection of photos.
