House Blessing

If you would like to celebrate moving into a new home (or the completion of renovation or extension of your home) with a religious celebration, one of our parish priests or deacons will gladly come out to bless your home and all who live there.

The occasion provides a special opportunity for a gathering of members of the household, and occasionally friends and relatives too, to mark the joyful event and to give thanks to God, from whom all blessings come, for the gift of a new home.

Ideally, all those who live in the home will be present.  It takes around 10 minutes and consists of prayers, a short passage of scripture and the sprinkling of holy water in each room of the house.

If you would like to arrange for a house-blessing, please contact the parish office and we will be happy to agree a mutually convenient date and time.

Lord,
be close to your servants
as they move into a new home
and are asking for your blessing.

Be their shelter when they are at home,
their companion when they are away,
and their welcome guest when they return.
And at last receive them
into the dwelling place you have prepared for them
in your Father's house,
where you live for ever and ever. Amen.
