Canon Michael Fitzpatrick in conversation – video

On Friday 7 June 2019, a celebration Mass will be held for the 50th anniversary of the ordination of Canon Michael Fitzpatrick, parish priest of St Osmund’s, St Gregory’s and The Holy Redeemer Catholic Churches in Salisbury. 

This Mass will be held in Salisbury Cathedral with the generous permission of the Bishop of Salisbury and the Dean and Chapter of Salisbury Cathedral and is the second Mass to be celebrated there since the Reformation. 

Joining Canon Michael for this celebration will be Bishop Declan Lang, Bishop Emeritus Crispian Hollis and the Bishop of Salisbury. sixty priests of the diocese will also be in attendance to concelebrate the Mass. 

Canon Michael has been a priest of the diocese since his ordination and has also served in the parishes of St Peter’s Gloucester; St Joseph’s Fishponds and Our Lady of Lourdes Kingswood, Bristol.

Canon Michael spoke at length with Diocesan Communication’s Officer, Phil Gibbons about his 50 years as a Priest and how things have changed both in the diocese and within the Catholic Church in this time.
