Salisbury Young Catholics
Youth Masses have music which is more upbeat and uplifting, and the youth of the Salisbury get more involved with reading, ministering Communion, and music through the choir or 'band'. Music includes those from Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman. There is usually a higher number of young people (teens) that attend the 6pm Mass which makes it a more convenient time for the Mass to be held. It is always held at St Osmund's church due to the easy accessability of the city centre for transport links from around the area.
Age Group: 8-10 (Years 4 & 5)
This group meets up in St Osmund's Parish Rooms between 3:45 - 5:00pm on Thursday afternoons. This is for those who have just made their first Holy Communion. We play games, have things to make, role play and acting, discussions and prayer time, all based on discovering the beauty of the Catholic faith. It is a lively and fun group why not join us?
Age Group: 10-13 (Years 6 - 8)
We spend our time having discussions , experiencing different forms of prayer, playing games, crafts, acting, debates, all helping us to develop a deeper understanding of our faith. We have fantastic trips and retreats which always bring us closer to each other and more importantly closer to Jesus. We meet every week and really enjoy our time together. We can be who we are in Jesus without having to worry what any one thinks because we are all here for the same reason. We learn a lot about the bible and what it means to be Catholic. It is great fun and we would love you to join us.
Age Group: 14-18 (Years 9 - 12)
YDisciple provides an ideal environment for teenagers to come to know and love their faith. Discipleship is not a programme – it is an apprenticeship in the Christian life.
YDisciple is designed to:
- Train and equip adults to disciple teens.
- Connect teens with caring, faith-filled adults who can apprentice them in the disciplines of a disciple.
- Draw teens out of the crowd into an environment where they can be known and cared for.
- Catechize in a small-group setting where testimony, discussion, and faith sharing can take place.
- Support parents with resources to grow in their own faith and share their faith with their teenagers.
- Provide quality content so adult leaders can effectively introduce and explore topics of the faith.
- Mobilize as many adults as possible to mentor teens through a user-friendly online platform.
Age Group: 18+ (Years 11+)

Retreats and Youth Festivals
Age Group: 14-25
Expression is an annual retreat in the heart of Salisbury. It brings together teenagers and young adults seeking to discover Jesus Christ more fully in their lives, guided by the Holy Spirit in the heart of the Catholic Church. It is time out to hear God speaking to our hearts, experiencing his immense love and sharing that with like minded people. Above all it's about our expression of joy, praise and thanks to God for all that he is, has done and will do for us.
Age Group: 16-30
Youth 2000 is an independent, international initiative that helps young adults aged 16-30 plug back into God at the heart of the Catholic Church. Its main distinguishing feature is the emphasis it places on the celebration of the Mass, and Adoration of the Eucharist; as well as its strong devotion to Our Lady and the Word of God in Scripture; next comes a focus on active evangelisation and the organisation of retreats and spiritual events for young people throughout the world.
Age Group: 5-11
Searchlight holiday club is a 2 day retreat for primary school children to learn more about God, in a very interactivve and fun way. It is being held in St Elizabeth's Hall and St Osmund's School grounds based on a theme which we relate to the bible. In Summer 2014, the theme is 'Jungle Story'. It is being run by the young people with some adults to supervise. Event contact(s) are Harriet Allen and Cathie Allen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
